Setting nutrition goals for a client

Recording kilocalories, protein, carbohydrates, fats and a sugar ceiling.

Open a client and go to their nutrition goals. What you enter here drives their rings, their daily overview and what they’re allowed to swap.

The five values. Kilocalories, protein, carbohydrates, fats and sugar. Everything is optional: if you only enter kcal and protein, only those are steered on. Leaving a value empty is a choice, not an omission.

Sugar is a maximum. Unlike the other four, this isn’t a target but a ceiling. Staying below it is the idea.

They apply from today. Goals are dated: a new value replaces the old one from now on and leaves the past as it was. That way, what your client had as their goal last month stays correct.

What it means for swapping. If your client wants to replace a dish, their daily total after the swap is checked against these values. If you don’t enter anything, there’s nothing to check against and any swap is fine.

How much protein. A commonly used rule of thumb for strength training is 1.6 to 2.2 grams per kilo of body weight per day. What’s right for this client is up to you -- this isn’t advice from the app.
