If you don’t know exactly what’s in it, you can take a photo of your plate and have it recognised.
How to take it. On the home screen, the nutrition tile has a button with a small camera; on the nutrition screen the same option is there when adding. Take a photo from above, with the whole plate in view and enough light.
What you get back. An estimate: which dishes or ingredients are probably on it and roughly how much that is. You can change, delete or add to each line before you save it.
Why it stays an estimate and not a measurement. A photo doesn’t show weight. A spoonful of oil in the pan is invisible, and whether that chicken breast is a hundred or two hundred grams is hard to tell from above. For an overall picture it works fine; for someone steering by five grams of protein, a scale is more accurate.
When it’s most useful. When eating out, with a meal someone else cooked, and at moments when the alternative is not entering anything at all.
Connection needed. The recognition doesn’t happen on your phone but on the server, so you need internet for this.
