Describing a meal or having it recognised

Adding your food by saying what you ate, taking a photo or scanning the label.

Not sure exactly what was in it, or don’t feel like looking everything up separately? There are three quicker ways. You’ll find them when adding to a meal, and in the Scanner.

Describe it. Name the dish and roughly how much, for example chicken with rice and broccoli, a big plateful. The more specific you are, the closer the estimate.

A photo of your plate. Get the whole plate in the picture, from above. A fork or a can next to it helps with estimating the portion.

The label. Point at the nutrition table on the packaging, straight from above. You get the values per 100 grams, so your portion is right. You can then save the product so you can find it straight away next time.

Check it. You get a list of what was recognised and how much. Adjust the amounts and remove anything that isn’t right before you add it. Portions are often judged slightly differently.

Points. Recognition happens on the server and costs points. You see what it costs before you tap. If you’re with a gym, it usually pays from its own credit first.

The most accurate is still the barcode, if the product is in the database. See Scanning a barcode.
