Training outdoors counts just as much as a session in the gym. Under the middle button, at All, is Cardio.
Five sports. Running, walking, cycling, swimming and inline skating. Choose one before you start; that decides how your pace is shown and how the energy burned is estimated.
Starting. Tap Start your run. At the top you see how good your GPS signal is, with the accuracy in metres. Under trees or between tall buildings it’s less sharp; in the open air it’s good within half a minute.
On the way. Your route on the map, your distance, time and pace. With audio cues you hear updates along the way. If you’ve connected a watch, your heart rate is added.
Saving. Afterwards you see your summary: route, distance, time, elevation, heart rate, new records and the squares you captured. Choose Save privately, or Save and share for the community. If you come across outdoor fitness equipment on the way, pin the spot straight away as a training spot.
Too fast to count. If a walk was so fast it looks like a bike ride, it’s in your history, but it earns no points and no territory.
No signal. GPS works without a mobile network. Your session is sent as soon as you’re connected again.
Battery. Tracking your position continuously uses power. Keep your screen off; tracking carries on if you gave permission for that.
