Connecting your watch or wearable

Steps, active calories and workouts from Apple Health or Health Connect, and what happens to your heart rate.

Under Profile → Wearables you connect the app to the health data on your phone.

Which wearables work. Anything that puts its data into Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). The screen lists, among others, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Polar, Whoop, Oura Ring, Fitbit, Xiaomi/Amazfit and Huawei. Some brands work through the bridge app Health Sync. For each brand it says how it works on your phone.

What comes in.

  • Your daily total: steps and active calories, and which app supplied them. This is stored per day, so you can compare this week with last week.
  • Workouts your watch measured. With Fetch workouts you bring them in; duplicates of what you logged in the app are hidden.

Your heart rate. For a workout, the average and the maximum come along, not the individual readings. The app asks for separate permission for that, at your first cardio session. You and your active coach see it; it’s not shown on a shared route.

Workouts become activities. After syncing, a workout from your watch appears as an activity in the app, with the calories from your watch. It counts towards your path and your goals, and earns 5 points, just like a workout (at most two activities per day). See Logging an activity.

What your coach sees. Your coach sees your activities. The calories and intensity that come from your watch are shared by default; turn off Share watch figures with your coach under Profile → Wearables if you don’t want that. Only you see your separate watch data (the raw workouts).

Without a wearable. You enter today’s steps yourself on your home screen.
