The quickest way to add a packaged product is to scan the barcode.
How it works. At a meal, choose to add and tap scan. Point your camera at the barcode; as soon as it’s recognised, the product appears with its nutritional values. All you need to fill in is the amount.
Why this is quicker. Searching by name costs you five words and a choice from twenty near-identical variants. A barcode points to exactly one product, including the right brand and the right composition.
If a product isn’t found. Not every package is in the database, and that happens more often with own-brand products. Then search by name, or enter the product manually with the values from the label. Whatever you enter yourself, you can reuse later.
Watch the portion. The values on a label are usually per hundred grams, and sometimes per portion. That difference is big for things like nuts or oil. The app calculates with what you enter, so check which of the two you’re copying.
Camera permission. The first time, your phone asks whether the app may use the camera. Without that permission, scanning doesn’t work; you can still give it later in your phone’s settings.
