Do you run or walk with extra weight, such as a weighted vest or a weighted backpack (rucking)? Record it with your session. Then your kcal and points count fairly.
What you can choose. What’s shown depends on your activity:
- Running and walking: weighted vest, weighted backpack, child in a carrier, wrist or hand weights, ankle weights, pushing a pram or buggy, pulling a sled or tyre. For running, also a resistance parachute.
- Inline skating: weighted vest or backpack.
- Cycling: bike trailer, child seat, luggage or panniers.
Beforehand. Below your goal, before the start, is Added weight. Choose what you’re carrying and set the kilos with − and + (a long press is 5 kg). Under My gear are your latest combinations, so you can pick the same vest with one tap next time.
Afterwards. Forgot? On the screen after your session, you adjust it before saving. After saving, it’s still possible up to 72 hours after the start, with the session in your history (Add or Adjust). After that, the session is fixed.
How it counts. Added weight makes your session harder, and you see that in your kcal:
- On your torso (vest, backpack, carrier) every kilo counts, and heavy loads count extra when walking.
- On your ankles a kilo is about five times as heavy, in your hands about twice.
- A buggy rolls and costs little extra.
- You can record the parachute, but it doesn’t count: how much it slows you down can’t be measured.
- Up to half your body weight counts; above that, no more.
Hills count too. If you climb during your session, the app includes the elevation gain: uphill costs more, and even more with your vest on. Going downhill adds nothing extra. Afterwards you see of which +… from climbing and +… from added weight. Climbing and added weight together earn extra points once; adjusting the added weight later only changes the kcal.
Records. Your records also include Toughest session (the most kilos in one session) and Most kilos × kilometres: ten kilos over five kilometres is 50 kg·km. If you break one, you see it straight after.
On the treadmill or stair climber. If you scan the screen of a treadmill, stair climber, climbing machine or cross trainer, you can choose a vest or backpack there too. The display doesn’t know about your vest; the app shows roughly what it comes to.
Build up gradually. New to added weight? Start with 5–10 % of your body weight and build up in steps. Above about 30 % the risk of problems rises quickly. If in doubt, ask your coach.
Who sees it. With a shared session, the added weight is shown in the feed, so a slower time reads fairly. Your coach sees it in your record.
