Swapping a dish

Eating something other than your plan says, within the values your coach has set.

You don’t have to eat porridge just because it’s in your plan. Every dish in your coach’s plan has a button to swap it.

What it’s checked against. Not the dish, but your whole day. The app works out what your daily total becomes if you make this swap, and compares that with the goals your coach has set. That’s fairer than dish against dish: if you’re short on protein today, a higher-protein replacement is exactly right -- and that would be rejected in a dish-by-dish comparison.

The margins. Kilocalories may differ by five per cent; that’s the hard limit. Protein can go up a lot but hardly down, because it’s a minimum and not a target. Carbohydrates and fat have more leeway. If there’s a sugar goal, that’s a maximum.

Two kinds of swap. A different dish, or the same dish in a different portion. The second almost always has a solution -- handy if you like the dish fine, just not that much of it.

What “almost fits” means. If the app finds nothing that falls exactly within the margins, it shows what falls just outside, with the difference. You decide.

Your coach sees it. A swap is recorded. That’s deliberate: a plan that quietly turns into something else is a plan you can no longer steer by.

Your shopping list adapts. What you swap changes what you need to buy too.

If it’s about your subscription, your classes or your plan, your gym or coach will know the answer. For the app itself, the chat can help: it searches here first and otherwise passes you on to us.
