A streak you can lose
Why your streak starts again if you miss a day, why a habit counts too, and where we do give you a second chance.

The streak on your home screen counts the days in a row on which you did something. Miss a day, and it starts again. That’s strict, and it’s been thought through.
A streak you can’t lose motivates nobody. If you can always repair it, it’s not a streak but bookkeeping. The number only means something because it can disappear.
But not every day is a training day. That’s why more than a workout counts. A run, a walk or a habit you tick off also keeps your streak alive. Two litres of water, a ten-minute walk: small things that always work out, precisely on the days when nothing else gets done.
Opening the app doesn’t count. Opening the app isn’t an achievement. It used to keep your streak alive; it doesn’t any more. A streak should be about what you did, not about how often you looked.
What you don’t lose. Your points, your level, your badges and your records. A broken streak costs you the streak, and nothing else. What you did, you did.
Where there is a second chance. On a path, a programme towards a goal, you can put right one missed day every four weeks. A path lasts weeks, and one lost day shouldn’t break a twelve-week programme.
Rest is part of it. A rest day in your plan isn’t a failure. Your streak is a tool for keeping a rhythm, not an order never to stop. Listen to your body, even if that means the number goes back to zero.
