Why training stays free and Pro is only about AI

Logging a workout costs us almost nothing. Recognising a meal in a photo does. That’s where the line is.

Person photographs a colourful plate of food with a phone in a bright kitchen, with running shoes resting on a bench nearby.

Many sports apps put their best features behind a subscription: statistics, plans, a goal of your own. We’ve drawn the line somewhere else, and there’s a reason for that.

What’s free stays free. Logging workouts, tracking your nutrition, running with your route, your records, your streak, your progress. That costs us little each time, and it’s at the heart of why you use the app. It’s never been paid for and never will be.

AI costs real money every time. Recognising a photo of your plate, putting together a weekly menu, coming up with a recipe: every request goes to a language model that charges per use. That’s why every AI feature costs points, and you see what it costs before you tap.

You simply earn points. By training, running and keeping up your habits. Part of that becomes AI credit every week. For anyone who scans a meal now and then, that’s enough.

Pro is for people who use a lot of AI. A generous credit every month, without a weekly limit, so you don’t have to use up the points you’ve earned. It expires at the end of the month, because it’s computing power, not a savings account.

Your points stay yours. If you cancel Pro, you keep your own balance. What stops is the extra credit.

At a gym, it usually pays for your AI use from its own credit. Then you don’t need Pro at all. So we don’t show it to you either.

Why we explain this. Because a price you understand is a price you trust. You pay for what costs us money, and not for a padlock on something that was already there.
